1st Place
In first place the winner this year in the BSAC Travel Club Open section, with a fantastic shot of a smiling White Whale, is Andrey Nekrasov. Taken in the White Sea. This shot has action, colour and great light. He's captured the peak of the action. as the whale opened its mouth, teeth exposed . This is an extraordinary shot that grabs you by the eyeballs.

Andrey had 7 shots in the finals so it was no accident that one of his shots was the winner.

This is an international competition and is open to photographers around the world. Andrey was born in Russia and lives in Ukraine. he says that as a result of his underwater photography no whales have suffered.
Andrey was not at DOC on the day to collect his award as he is lives in Ukraine- in his absence. He was awarded BSAC Underwater Photographer of the Year together with  a trip for two to Seychelles valued at £3000

 

2nd place
With an image of a manta ray and diver, the photographer has caught the moment with the manta's mouth wide open coming straight at the diver. Taken in the Maldives by Steve Jones

Adam Green (Manager) from Cameras Underwater presented Steve with a £300 voucher.

 

3rd place
With a fantastic silhouette of a jelly fish with the sun's rays streaking around and penetrating the jelly. Taken in the Black Sea off Ukraine by Andrey Nekrasov.
